Riverbend
About the Show:
Riverbend is a modern retelling of the Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo. Daphne is a recent high school graduate desperate to get out of her stifling small town and distant father to take her late mother’s sailboat for a year-long trip. But when twins Diana and Aiden come to town, her plans are challenged by feelings she’s never known before.
Much like the original myth, the story of Riverbend is heart wrenching and, at moments, devastating. However, Riverbend also fights relentlessly for joy. It is the writers’ hope that the story opens hearts, allowing for mourning and laughter, tragic reflection and fearless hope.
Developmental History:
Caroline wrote Riverbend with composer and collaborator Michael Oosterhout at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU Tisch. The show was developed under the guidance and mentorship of Mindi Dickstein, Sarah Schlesinger, Fred Carl, Scott Richards, and Donna DiNovelli.
